Welcome, I'm Eliza - I’m so glad you’re here.

I have always been intrigued by the magic of women’s bodies, pregnancy and birth. In my early twenties, I considered doing my formal midwifery training, but life took me on a different path - instead, I got a degree in Education and Criminology.

While I was backpacking through India on my summer break, I received an email from an anti-violence organisation asking to interview me for a facilitator role. I got the role and spent four years teaching consent and violence prevention programming in high schools all across Auckland! It was the most humbling, heart-warming, and challenging role I’ve ever had, and it marked the beginning of a decade-long path toward becoming a subject matter expert in gender-based violence.

I am deeply grateful for this work, as it rooted me in a deep understanding of consent, body sovereignty, and trauma-informed care: principles that feel inseparable from the way I now approach birthwork.

“Eliza has an incredible patience and ability to open her heart to people of all walks of life. She offers herself so well to all that surround her and she listens with delight and interest - always open to new ideas and offerings and finds genuine interest in what people have to say. She has a powerful sense of calm about her that you feel instantly when in her presence, and is a golden glow of light. She holds space so well, and I would recommend her to anyone looking to feel safe and connected”

My Story

In my early twenties, I was diagnosed with cervical dysplasia (pre-cancerous cervical cells). After years of being disconnected from my womb and intuition, it was the wake-up call I needed. Alongside chronic illness and inflammation in my body, this diagnosis brought me to a turning point and I realised how deeply I needed support. I committed to getting to the root cause, and from there, everything began to change.

It led me into a deeper healing journey - one that asked me to truly listen to my body, reconnect with my womb, and trust the inner wisdom I had long been taught to override. I had my IUD removed, began tracking my natural cycle, joined a women’s circle, and worked with a nutritionist specialising in gut health and hormones. Slowly, I began to heal.

Somatic work, nutrition, sisterhood, and reconnecting with my womb and cycle supported my healing in profound ways. Living in a body with health challenges, and moving through them with holistic care, deeply shapes how I show up for my work and the women I support today.

The fern is deeply connected to the koru (or spiral), a symbol across cultures of the natural rhythms of life - new life, beginnings, growth, and rebirth. In many traditions, the fern is a plant of the threshold, associated with the space between worlds. Growing in shaded forests where light and dark meet, it reflects the liminal space of pregnancy and the transition between maiden and mother.

After facilitating women’s circles, dances, and womb workshops, and feeling deeply lit up by this work, I was ready in 2025 to fully step into birthwork. I was accepted into a nine-month doula training at Da Luz Oasis, a holistic midwifery school in the Alpujarra mountains of Southern Spain, and it changed my life.

Studying at Da Luz was a full immersion. Alongside thirteen women from across Europe, I explored physiological birth, pregnancy, postpartum, bodywork, family constellations, shadow work, homeopathy, herbal medicine, and many other layers of birthwork. I also lived in an off-grid community built by former students, now home to families who have birthed their babies on that land. This deep immersion, in both study and way of life, has shaped how I walk alongside women and their families as a holistic birthkeeper and advocate. I understand that this path is a lifelong devotion, and I remain a humble student - continually learning and growing with mentors, and with the women and families I am honoured to support.

I currently reside on the unceded traditional territories of the Lekwungen-speaking peoples, specifically the Songhees and Xʷsepsəm (Esquimalt) Nations. I honour their enduring stewardship and historical relationships with these lands and waters. I am deeply grateful to live, work, grow, and dance on this land.

“Eliza has such an honest presence. She holds space in a gently encouraging, and strong yet receptive, way. Eliza really creates space for feminine, masculine, and every divine energy in between to come alive and dance harmoniously, unashamedly.” -Serena.

What guides me

Presence

Birth cannot be rushed or forced - it asks for presence and deep listening. I offer steady, grounded birth support so women can soften, slow down, and meet each moment of her labour as it unfolds, allowing her body to open in its own time.

Innate Wisdom

I believe the body carries a deep intelligence when it comes to birth. My work supports women in remembering and trusting this knowing - the rhythms, instincts, and cues that guide pregnancy, labour, and postpartum.

Sovereignty

Birth is a space where a woman’s voice, body, and choices matter deeply. When she feels connected to her inner authority and is supported to make informed decisions, she can move through her birth with clarity and sovereignty.

Thresholds

Birth is a powerful threshold - the initiation of becoming, a crossing from maiden to mother. I am here to hold this transition with care, honouring the intensity, vulnerability, and transformation of the journey into motherhood.
